Sundale CEO Danielle Mackenzie said nine staff members have already received $67,000 in total.

“The Sundale Scholarship Fund removes some of the barriers often associated with further education,” Ms Mackenzie said.

“The fund is tailored to each recipient and can be spent on course fees, a laptop, reliable internet, travel costs associated with study, computer programs or books.”

Acting Facility Manager at James Grimes Care Centre, Katrina Kozlovic said the Sundale Scholarship Fund will allow her to complete a Diploma of Nursing at Central Queensland University.

“It’s amazing what Sundale is doing for its staff,” Ms Kozlovic said.

“Sundale’s support means I can complete my Diploma of Nursing.

“I am excited to be returning to the classroom and achieve my goal of becoming an Enrolled Nurse.

Payroll Officer Hayley Mix has worked at Sundale for the past 12 years, and will undertake a Diploma of Human Resources Management at TAFE Queensland with Sundale’s assistance.

“My third child is due in April and this wonderful opportunity will allow me to study while I’m on maternity leave,” Mrs Mix said.

“A Diploma of Human Resources Management will allow me to return to the workplace with fresh new ideas and a new way of thinking.”

Enrolled Nurse and Bachelor of Nursing student, Mack MacRae received $13,000 which will be spent on course fees at Sunshine Coast University.

“It was a euphoric moment when I was told I had received a Sundale Scholarship. It gave me goose bumps,” Mr MacRae said.

“Sundale’s decision to award me a scholarship proves that I’m a valued member of the team. I’m proud they see me as an asset and part of their plans for the future.”

Ms Mackenzie said Sundale is proud to lead by example.

“As the sector waits for the final recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care and Safety, Sundale is determined to play a proactive part in reform in change,” Ms Mackenzie said.

“The Scholarship Fund is a simple, yet powerful way we can support the Sundale community and our residents and care recipients.”

Sundale is a community based, not for profit, retirement and care centre organisation that supports the needs of its community via outstanding care and assistance services.
