Reforms to residential aged care
From November 1, 2025, reforms to residential aged care will be rolled out, with the aim to create more positive outcomes for older Australians. These changes bring aged care in line with modern needs and the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

Residential aged care is available for older Australians who need extra help with daily living, health, or nursing support. An ACAT/ACAS assessment is required to confirm eligibility.
