There are four levels of Home Care Package funding:
- Level 1 – for people with basic care needs;
- Level 2 – for people with low-level care needs;
- Level 3 – for people with intermediate care needs;
- Level 4 – for people with high-level care needs;
The cost you pay will depend on your income and is determined by the Department of Health. The funding you receive will vary depending on the level of your Home Care Package and is paid direct to your service provider. Where your personal circumstances allow, you will be expected to contribute to the cost of your care.
To be allocated a Home Care Package, you must first be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or ACAS (VIC only). This assessment will determine your package level.
